Gangster Sunil Sardhania, the main accused in the firing on Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpuria and the murder of property dealer Rohit Shaukeen, has revealed during interrogation that he travelled through 15 countries using the illegal ‘donkey route’ after obtaining a passport on fake documents.

Sardhania, who was arrested by the Gurugram Police from the Delhi International Airport early on Sunday, is currently on five days’ police remand.

Officials said after acquiring a forged passport from Delhi, Sardhania first flew to Dubai, from where he travelled illegally through 15 countries and eventually reached the Rico Coast in Central America. He was preparing to enter the US when he was detained and brought back to India.

In a video released by the Gurugram Police, the gangster is seen kneeling and urging youth to stay away from crime.

“I, Sunil Sardhania, have been in the world of crime for the past 15 years. There is nothing in this world. I appeal to everyone — stay safe at home and never connect with any criminal. They will only use you, and you will regret it later. Home is the best,” he says in the video.

A senior investigating officer said Sardhania turned to crime after his father’s murder left him traumatised.

“He dropped out after Class 10 and soon joined criminal gangs. A total of 24 serious cases have been registered against him and his associates in several Haryana districts and in Uttar Pradesh,” said Karan Goel, DCP (West).

Police are now focusing on gangster Deepak Nandal, a former music producer believed to be operating from London, who allegedly collaborated with Sardhania in several crimes.
