Tragedy struck in Kurukshetra on Saturday as a young girl lost her life and a boy went missing after the duo allegedly jumped into the Bhakra Canal under the jurisdiction of Jhansa police station.

According to the Kurukshetra Police spokesperson, the incident was reported in the afternoon, following which a rescue operation was launched. “The girl’s body was recovered and shifted to the LNJP district civil hospital,” the spokesperson said.

Search operations are currently underway to locate the missing boy. The police said the exact reason behind the incident remains unclear.

“No complaint has been received so far,” the spokesperson added, indicating that the matter is still under investigation.
