In a statement, Inderjit Singh, national vice-president of AIKS, said there was no connection of the visit to agriculture science.

A video is doing the rounds in which an unknown 'godman' is seen escorted by senior officers of the Directorate of Research, led by Dr RK Gupta, Assistant Director of Research, yesterday.

He said the Vice-Chancellor must clarify who was behind the visit. He said the Constitution mandated that the State should strive to nurture scientific temperament. "What is happening at the HAU and other universities is a blatant violation of this sacrosanct canon," he said.

Dr Gupta said the religious head was on a personal visit to bless him and no university official was involved in the visit.
