According to the minister, the project aims to provide permanent relief to residents of low-lying areas in Ambala Cantt that face severe waterlogging during the monsoon season.

Vij said the state government had given special administrative approval for this initiative, which would offer a long-term solution to the recurring problem of water accumulation. A stormwater drainage network has already been installed in the Sadar area of Ambala Cantt and the system will now be extended to other parts of the town.

He added that pumping stations would be established in Simran Vihar, Defence Colony, Boh, Kardhan, Prabhu Prem Puram, Nanhera, Lal Kurti, BC Bazaar and several other localities. In addition, drainage channels would be constructed and upgraded under the project.

“The new drainage system will ensure smooth and effective discharge of rainwater during the monsoon. Once operational, it will eliminate the long-standing issue of waterlogging and improve cleanliness and safety in the area,” Vij stated.

He further said that the state government remained committed to initiatives serving the public interest and this project marked a significant step in that direction.
