Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhary said “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign launched by the Prime Minister in Panipat showcased his deep connection with the state.

Addressing a function on the occasion of Basant Panchmi in Bhiwani today, she shared her grandfather, former Chief Minister, Late Chaudhary Bansi Lal’s progressive outlook on women’s empowerment, which state government was also fulfilling.

Recalling a personal moment, the minister said when her father passed away in an accident nearly two decades ago, her grandfather took the bold step of breaking societal norms and placing a turban on her head, symbolising strength and equality for women. Today, society recognises the importance of that decision, she said.

She further emphasised on the importance of collective efforts to make women self-reliant and empowered. She appealed to officers and employees of the Women and Child Development Department to work with dedication and integrity to ensure that government schemes truly benefit women and children.

The minister said in the first 100 days of the state government, 324 crèches were opened to support childcare. Besides this, she mentioned the Central Government’s decision to increase the tax exemption limit from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh in the Budget, providing significant financial relief to the people.

Commissioner and Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Amneet P Kumar also shared various initiatives undertaken by the Women and Child Development Department.

She appealed to department officers and staff to actively participate in programmes like the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign and the malnutrition-free initiative. She emphasised on the importance of implementing such programmes to ensure needy women receive benefits of the government schemes.

Later, the minister attended a prize distribution ceremony as as the chief guest at the Vaish Model Senior Secondary School in Bhiwani.
