Govt issuing notices to pvt hospitals in Haryana over the withdrawal of Ayushman services: IMA

The Haryana branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has accused the state government of having an ostrich-like approach and indulging in pressure tactics over the withdrawal of Ayushman services by the private hospitals.

In an official statement, the association has alleged that the Haryana Government, which earlier maintained that the private hospitals' decision had no impact on Ayushman services, was now issuing show-cause notices to private hospitals regarding non-admission of Ayushman patients.

"The IMA Haryana Branch had duly apprised the state authorities of the decision to withdraw Ayushman services from August 7 to 15. The government functionaries have held meetings with IMA office-bearers and issued media statements in this regard. Still, they don't know why the Ayushman patients are not being admitted. It is only a pressure tactic and misuse of government machinery to hide their incompetence," the statement maintains.

The association has reiterated that the Ayushman services had been withdrawn due to the state government's failure to honour its commitments made to the Ayushman-empanelled hospitals in an MoU signed between them.

"The payments pertaining to Ayushman cases were not made within the stipulated time of 15 days. The payments got delayed by 3-4 months and up to three years in certain cases. The government has been repeatedly apprised of the pressing concerns, but no prompt and effective solutions have been provided," it adds.

Meanwhile, the IMA headquarters have backed the struggle of the Ayushman-empanelled hospitals of Haryana.

The association has urged the state government to clear the pending dues of the Ayushman-empanelled hospitals, make adequate budgetary provisions and address other concerns of the private hospitals to ensure smooth provision of services in the larger interest.
