Speaking to mediapersons at the Dronacharya Sports Stadium in Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister said, “Due to heavy rains in hilly areas, the rivers have been receiving a huge flow of water. The government and the administration are fully ready to deal with the situation. A close watch is being kept on the situation. We also appeal to the public to remain cautious during such unfavourable weather conditions and avoid going to hilly areas.”

The Markanda in Kurukshetra has been flowing heavily, with water spilling into agricultural fields in Shahabad area.

Later, addressing a gathering at Kalal Majra village in Ladwa constituency, Saini urged people to join the state’s cleanliness campaign. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we all should take a pledge to make the state clean. An 11-week cleanliness campaign has also been launched in the state,” he said.

On this occasion, the CM also released a book on his life written by Dr Kewal Krishan and announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh for the development of Kalal Majra village. He assured the villagers that their demands, presented by the sarpanch, would be sent to the department concerned. “There is no dearth of funds for developmental works. In the past 10 months, development projects worth Rs 1.1 crore have been carried out in the village,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s policies, Saini said his government was committed to ensuring timely completion of development projects across the state.

Taking a swipe at rivals, he said, “The Opposition should talk about the development works and achievements of their tenure. If they had worked then, they would not have to blame the EVMs today. The public has rejected Congress.”

The Chief Minister also announced that from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “Sewa Pakhwada” would be observed across Haryana till October 2. “During this period, services will be provided to the poor, needy, and differently-abled. Welfare societies, traders and other organisations will also be included in this campaign,” he added.
