Speaking on the Common Eligibility Test (CET), the Chief Minister said 13.48 lakh youth had registered this year, compared to 11 lakh last year. He acknowledged technical issues on the SARAL portal but added that more than 3 lakh candidates from BC-A and BC-B categories, and an equal number from Scheduled Castes, had managed to download caste certificates and complete registration.

“Those who could not download their certificates will still be allowed to appear for the exam. The pending formalities will be taken care of simultaneously,” Saini assured.

He also informed that departments have been instructed to rationalise posts and send updated requisitions to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), adding that some posts had become obsolete while new roles were being created to meet evolving needs.

“This is a continuous and ongoing process of aligning human resources with departmental requirements,” he said.

The Cabinet also approved several employee-centric policy amendments. In the event of a government employee’s death in service, the family will be entitled to House Rent Allowance (HRA) at the last drawn rate for two years, or they may retain government accommodation for the same period by paying the normal licence fee.

Commuted pension will now be restored after 15 years of retirement, bringing relief to thousands of pensioners.

The Cabinet also gave in-principle approval to implement Rationalization Commission recommendations for five departments — Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Water Resources, Mines and Geology, Horticulture, and Urban Local Bodies — to improve efficiency and responsiveness.

The Cabinet approved relaxation in the Compassionate Appointment Policy for families of battle casualties from Haryana who had missed the original three-year application deadline. The decision will allow compassionate appointments in eight such time-barred cases, demonstrating the government’s commitment to soldier welfare.
