A 2013 batch IPS officer Ganga Ram Punia took charge as the Superintendent of Police (SP), Karnal on Monday. He was welcomed by DSP (hq), Nayab Singh and other police officials.
After taking over the charge, Punia said that all complaints in the police posts and police stations will be addressed promptly, with priority given to resolving issues within a designated timeframe and within the legal framework. He emphasised his commitment to maintaining law and order, with a special focus on swift and fair action against crimes against women, strict measures to curb drug-related activities, addressing public grievances on a priority basis, and increasing police visibility at key locations across the district.
Punia had earlier also served as SP of Karnal and after serving in Hisar and Yamunanagar, he has been posted again to Karnal.
While interacting with mediapersons, Punia said past crimes and pending cases would be reviewed and resolved expeditiously. “We aim to establish a strong coordination between the police and the public, which will strengthen people’s confidence in the police,” he said.
