As the Vice-Chancellor of the sports university, my endeavour will be to ensure that our players never face any problem. As per the directions of the CM, we will create such an environment for players so that the university is able to produce world champions. — Ashok Kumar, VC, Sports University of Haryana

While interacting with The Tribune after assuming the charge, Ashok Kumar said his priority is to prepare excellent sportspersons in the university, provide a good atmosphere and advance technology to the budding sportsmen. He thanked CM Manohar Lal Khattar for his appointment.

“I have spent 34 years for serving UP and Uttarakhand. I have also served in areas that are close to Pakistan and Bangladesh borders. Now, it’s time to serve my own birth land,” said the Vice-Chancellor.

“My priority will be initiating special courses for sportspersons so that they remain unconcerned about their jobs in the future and they can give their best in the sports,” he added.

He said scores of sportspersons had to leave their education due to sports, but he would plan things in a way so that they make a balance between education and sports.

“Resolving the problems of the youths related to studies and degrees will also be my priority. After analysing the weak and strong points of the sportspersons, courses pursued at the international level will start in the university. The move will help them prepare in the university as per the international standards,” he added.

“I will also try to start an injury rehabilitation centre for players in the university and will give special attention to sports science,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

“As the Vice-Chancellor of the sports university, my endeavour will be to ensure that our players never face any problem. As per the directions of the CM, we will create such an environment for the players so that more world champions emerge from the university and make our country proud,” he remarked.
