Governor of Gujarat and Maharashtra Acharya Devvrat stressed on the importance of natural farming, stating that it enriched the soil, whereas chemical-based agriculture led to land degradation.

He was speaking at a special lecture on “Nature and law” organised by Rohtak District Bar Association here on Tuesday, attracting distinguished personalities from the fields of law, education and social service.

The Governor also explored the deep interconnection between ecology and justice, emphasising how ethical values, natural balance and legal systems were fundamentally complementary.

Dr Vijendra Singh Ahlawat, former two-time Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, presented an informative overview of the history and legacy of the Rohtak Bar Association, shedding light on its role in the development of the justice system and its contributions to social equity.

Earlier, the programme commenced with welcome address by Deepak Hooda, president of the bar association, who highlighted the relevance of the chosen theme in the current context. His address set the tone for deep reflection on the relationship between environmental sustainability and legal frameworks.

Rajkaran Panghal, general secretary, delivered the formal vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
