“The primary cause of rising illnesses is improper diet,” he said. He urged the doctors present at the event to make their patients aware of the importance of pure food and disciplined daily routines. “Impure food leads to violence and unethical behaviour, while those who consume a sattvic diet tend to have pure thoughts, and develop qualities like compassion, non-violence, and altruism,” said Acharya.
He was addressing a gathering as chief guest at a health awareness programme organised by cardiologist Dr Aditya Batra here on Monday evening.
The Governor expressed concern over the increasing consumption of fast food among the youth, warning that the chemicals used in fast food were no less harmful than intoxicants. He emphasised the need for the younger generation to move away from fast food, junk food, and late-night habits. He lamented the decline in home-cooked meals, with more people turning to restaurants, which he said was not a good sign. According to him, one should eat food that was compatible with their body.
Acharya further pointed out that food cooked by a mother, wife, or sister was beneficial to health. He also shared detailed information about naturopathy, describing it as a highly effective form of treatment.
Congress MLA BB Batra, former ministers — Krishan Murti Hooda and Subhash Batra, Vice-Chancellor of Health University Dr HK Agrawal, PGIMS Director Prof SK Singhal and Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal, MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh and Vice-Chancellor of State University of Performing and Visual Arts Dr Amit Arya were among those prominent present on the occasion.
Earlier, the governor felicitated 48 outstanding women achievers at the She Talks Awards 2025 and applauded the women’s pivotal role in enhancing the pride of the nation by excelling in every sphere from science, sports, education, and administration.
Sat Singh Dhankhar and OP Vashishth, organiser of the event, said international pugilists — Jaismeen Lamboria, Meenakshi Hooda, Nupur Sheoran and Pooja Bohra, badminton star Unnati Hooda, wrestler Ritika Hooda, Mountaineer Reena Bhati, fitness coach Nikita Garg, Media professional Dr. Sarvapriya Sangwan, Social media influencer Shalu Kirar, Cyclist Sweety Malik and Haryanvi Artist Anjvi Hooda were among those outstanding women achievers felicitated on the occasion.
