While the motive behind the attack is yet to be confirmed, sources suggested it could be linked to a business dispute involving a gangster, a post about which went viral on social media. However, police have not verified this connection. The company owner and his family have declined to comment.

Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia, along with DSPs, STF and CIA teams, and forensic experts, visited the scene and reviewed the situation. Several empty shells were recovered.

SP Punia said, “We received a call on Dial 112 about the firing incident, after which police reached the spot and started an investigation. The motive behind the firing is being ascertained. CCTV footage and other technical evidence are being examined.”

He added, “The complainant has denied receiving any threats or extortion calls. The culprits will be arrested soon.” A case has been registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act on the complaint of Simranjeet Singh.

On the viral social media post suggesting a business dispute, Punia said all angles were being investigated.

Eyewitnesses said that the continuous gunfire created panic in the neighbourhood, with residents waking up to the sound of bullets. The building façade and nearby walls bore multiple bullet marks, showing the intensity of the firing.

The assailants fled soon after the attack. The incident has raised security concerns in Alpha City, a gated society with guards at its entry and exit points. However, parts of the compound reportedly lack boundary walls, providing an escape route for the attackers.
