Dr Kamal Gupta, Haryana’s Minister of Health, Medical Education and Research, Ayush and Civil Aviation, emphasised on the significance of the upcoming 78th Independence Day during an event at the Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School here on Monday.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr Gupta highlighted the sacrifices made by freedom fighters who broke the chains of colonial rule imposed by the Mughals and the British.

Dr Gupta inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp before the statue of Goddess Saraswati and administered the national pledge to the attendees. He also announced a donation of Rs 2 lakh for the school. The event featured patriotic cultural performances by students reflecting their love for the nation.

In his speech, Dr Gupta said, “India is emerging as a powerful nation on the global stage and is reaching new heights of progress.” He urged youths, who he described as the country’s reservoir of energy, to actively contribute to societal and national development.

Dr Gupta said the Tricolour flag was a symbol of the nation’s honour and pride and infused a sense of patriotism and enthusiasm among citizens. He encouraged citizens not only to hoist the national flag at their homes, but also promote the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative among their neighbours, shopkeepers and office-goers.
