Gurugram ranks among the top 10 Indian cities for being the most inclusive, resilient and sustainable cities for working women, revealed a survey conducted by a workplace culture consulting firm.

In its third edition of ‘Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI)’ index, the firm said Gurugram demonstrated a significant ascent from an overall positioning of 20 in 2023 to rank 9 in 2024. However, the city scores low on quality of life and women’s safety.

Bengaluru reigns supreme by topping the ranking for being the most inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities for working women. The city has scored high in skilling and employment for women, infrastructure and caregiving support.

“Working women seemed to perceive Bengaluru to be conducive to their mobility, safety and liveability needs. One of the parameters the city will do well to improve is its crime rate. The city’s rate of crimes against women (as per NCRB 2022) stands at 96.7 which is higher than the national average of 90.1, demanding attention,” the survey said.

Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Gurugram, Coimbatore are other cities which have fared well in creating a conducive atmosphere for women as far as employment, infrastructure and their safety is concerned.

In their regional analysis India’s Southern region emerges as the most inclusive region, scoring

comparatively higher in both social and industrial inclusion.
