Gurugram cops arrest 28 for Rs 38 crore frauds

The Gurugram cyber police have arrested 28 cyber fraudsters, including six women, for allegedly duping hundreds of people across the country of Rs 38.25 crore in the last two months.

The police have recovered Rs 27,700 in cash, three laptops, 24 cheque books, a point of sale machine that is used to process transactions by retail customers, 15 phones and 95 SIM cards from their possession.

DCP (cyber) Siddhant Jain said the accused used to commit fraud on the pretext of share market investments, online ticket booking or posed as experts to trick victims.

He said after examining these SIM cards and reviewing the data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), it was found that the accused had committed frauds of about Rs 38.25 crore across the country.

The accused have been identified as Vardan Arora, Chandpasa, Ashish, Vinod alias Vicky, Navya Arora, Rohit Soni, Rahul Gupta, Nikhil jail, Tarun, Ankit Mishra, Abhishek Singh, Pramod Kumar, Lalmani Verma, Vishal, Ujjawal, Balra, Vaibhav Shukla, Mohammad Vasim, Priyanshu, Rahul Kumar, Abhay, Monika, Shikha Thakur, Shashi, Rachna Shriwastav, Babli Bhoj and Maitaul Haq.

The police said a total of 10,472 complaints and 540 cases were lodged against these accused across the country. Of these, 26 cases were registered in Haryana, including six in Gurugram.
