Gurugram cyber cops arrest two for online investment app fraud

The arrests followed the registration of an FIR at the Cyber Crime (West) police station.
According to the police, a local resident lodged a complaint on June 1, stating that they were defrauded by individuals promoting lucrative returns through investment tasks on an online application. Acting on the complaint, a team led by ACP (Cyber) Priyanshu Dewan initiated an investigation and arrested two suspects from Gurugram.
The accused have been identified as J Shivram, a native of Chennai and Anil Kumar Joseph, a resident of Ernakulam, Kerala.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that Rs 1 lakh, defrauded in this case, was transferred to a bank account held by J Shivram. He had opened more than five current bank accounts under a firm’s name and sold them to Anil Kumar Joseph for Rs 25 lakh. In turn, Joseph sold these accounts to cyber fraudsters for Rs 27 lakh,” said the ACP.
