Gurugram MC to conduct door-to-door certification of property tax

After having realised that there were many errors in the survey conducted by a private agency a couple of years ago, the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG), has decided to send its own teams door-to-door for property tax self-certification to expedite the data correction work.

While presiding over a meeting of civic body officials, Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg asked them to ensure prompt resolution of claims and objections related to property tax. “The applications of locals should not be rejected or reverted without any valid reason,” he said.

Adding that the MC teams must also rectify the errors related to property tax data quickly, he said if any deficiency was found in the application for property tax data correction or creation of a new property ID, objection should be marked for only one time.

He clarified that if any officer or employee repeatedly objected to the same application, it would be considered a wrong procedure and departmental action would be initiated against him/her.

The Commissioner also directed he officials to resolve all pending objections related to property tax within the next two days. Along with this, instructions were given to the officials concerned to speed up the work related to the ownership certificate being given in the Lal Dora areas. The instructions were also given to the officials concerned to issue notices to property tax defaulters and make recoveries.

Meanwhile, Garg also asked the enforcement officials to remove all unauthorised advertisements put up illegally in the MC areas along the roadsides and at public places.

He asked them to send notices to the agency concerned and advertiser and ask them to pay the penalty and if someone did not pay the penalty, an FIR should be registered against him.
