Gurugram model Divya Pahuja murder case: Pistol recovered; key suspect Abhijeet remanded in 14-day judicial custody
Gurugram, January 17
The three-member special investigation team (SIT) of the Gurugram police on Tuesday finally recovered the pistol that was used to kill ex-model Divya Pahuja. The weapon and a cartridge were recovered after a large-scale search operation was conducted by the team in collaboration with employees of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram.
After the completion of his 13 day-police remand, key suspect Abhijeet Singh was today produced in a city court, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody. Balraj Gill, who had allegedly disposed of Divya’s body in a canal, has also been remanded to police custody. He will be produced in court on Wednesday.
The police said Abhijeet confessed to having killed Divya due to personal reasons. It may be noted that his initial claim was that he shot her as she was blackmailing him.
The SIT has now completed Abhijeet’s interrogation. During his police remand, his rumoured girlfriend Megha was also arrested in Najafgarh, Delhi, and sent to jail after remaining in police remand for a day. Following this, Pravesh, who had provided illegal weapons to him, was also arrested and sent to jail. Besides, Hemraj and Om Prakash were sent also to jail.
So far, six suspects have been arrested, of whom five have been sent to jail.
Gill was also sent to four-day police remand for interrogation. He would be produced in a city court on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ravi Bandra, who had helped Gill in disposing of Divya’s body, is still on the run.
“A total of six suspects have been arrested by the Gurugram police. One of the suspects, Ravi, is still at large, but will be arrested soon. Further probe is underway,” said ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya.
