Gurugram Sadar Bazar to get multi-level parking by May

In a bid to decongest old Gurugram’s Sadar Bazar area, which is plagued by illegal parking, the MC is set to establish a multi-level parking in the area.

According to Municipal Commissioner Narhari Singh Bangar, the parking — which is currently under construction — will be completed and open to public by May 2024.

• The proposed nine-floor parking complex in the Sadar Bazar area will have three basements
• The parking lot having a capacity to house 230 cars and over 100 two-wheelers, will also have 53 shops for the convenience of visitors
• The lot will have centralised air-conditioning and three lifts
• Elevated parking facility will also be available in the basements to maximise vehicle storage

The multi-level parking is being built at an approximate cost of Rs 54 crore. The parking will have three basements, one ground and five other floors.

Fifty-three shops are being built in the parking lot, which will have the capacity to house 230 cars and more than 100 two-wheelers. The lot will have centralised air-conditioning facility and three lifts. Elevated parking facilities will also be available in the basements to maximise vehicle storage.

To tackle illegal parking menace

Illegal parking is a major problem that keeps old Gurugram, especially Sadar Bazar, congested. We are working on opening the two new parking lots at the earliest in an effort to decongest it. A parking facility at Kaman Sarai is also in the works, according to Bangar.

“Illegal parking is a major problem that keeps old Gurugram, especially Sadar bazar, congested. We are working on opening the two new parking lots at the earliest in an effort to decongest it. As of now, two makeshift parking facilities are being used,” Bangar said.

The Municipal Commissioner on Monday conducted a review of the ongoing MC projects — including the Kamla Nehru Park swimming pool, Kaman Sarai multi-level parking site and the under-construction Corporation office building in Vyapar Sadan, Sheetla Mata Mandir Complex.

The under-construction Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital and the vacant MC land in Babupur village here were also inspected.
