Netizens are trolling Sangwan over the release of rape and murder convict Sirsa-based Dera Sacha head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on parole/furlough six times during his tenure as the Jail Superintendent.
However, Sangwan said he had rejected the dera chief’s request for the grant of emergency parole three times and had no role in the grant of regular parole to him.
The BJP candidate said when he was the Jail Superintendent at Sunaria prison, the dera head had applied for an emergency parole to meet his ailing mother three times and he (Sangwan) had declined his requests.
“Later, he applied for a regular parole, which is sanctioned by the Divisional Commissioner of the district,” asserted Sangwan. He said Congress leaders seemed to be levelling such allegations out of desperation.
