HAFED suspends 4 officials over paddy embezzlement probe

The higher authorities of the Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) suspended four of its officials in connection with a paddy embezzlement case in Yamunanagar district.

According to available information, a senior manager, two field inspectors and a technical officer were suspended.

The district police had already arrested the owner of some rice mills for allegedly embezzling paddy allocated to his mills by government agencies.

Udham Singh, District Manager of the HAFED, said Senior Manager Salinder Kumar, Field Inspectors Rajesh Kumar and Chander Mohan and Technical Officer Anil Kumar had been suspended.

He said that all four officials had shown negligence in their duties regarding paddy procurement.

“Mukul Kumar, the Managing Director of HAFED, issued the suspension orders on Tuesday. A chargesheet with major penalty was also being prepared against the suspended officials,” Singh said.

According to reports, the authorities of the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Yamunanagar, and HAFED got three FIRs registered on different dates in November 2025 against rice miller Sandeep Singla and his wife after a short stock of allotted paddy was found in their seven rice mills in Yamunanagar district.

On the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, a special investigation team (SIT) led by DSP Rajat Gulia was investigating the case.

The SIT had already arrested the owner of the rice mills, Sandeep Singla, in connection with the case.

As per the record of the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, Yamunanagar, a total of 675,384 MT of paddy had been procured in all 13 grain markets in the district by November 15 (the last paddy procurement day).

However, last year, as many as 6,09,166 MT of paddy had been purchased in all grain markets of the district.
