Allegedly harassed for dowry and unable to take it anymore, a 27-year-old woman allegedly set her house on fire and then jumped with her two sons in the fire in Jatka Sheeshwana village in Nuh district.

The woman and her one son were charred to death while another son is being treated in a hospital.

The father of the deceased woman filed a case of dowry death in Rajasthan. Nuh police are investigating the matter.

The incident happened in Jatka Sheeshwana village near Nagina in Nuh yesterday late night.

The deceased woman, Jamshida, wife of Sabir, allegedly set the house on fire and then jumped in the fire with her two children.

Jamshida and her three-year-old son Shahrun died while two-year-old Arsan was severely scorched. He is being treated at the district hospital, Mandikheda.

Police said the deceased woman had four children and two were sleeping outside the room when the incident happened.

Police started investigation into the matter and questioned the husband.

“Rahman Khan, father of the deceased woman, filed a complaint of dowry death in Kishangarh police station in Rajasthan. We are investigating all the angles and action will be taken as per the law,” said sub inspector Virender Kumar, the investigating officer.
