Deputy Speaker of Vidhan Sabha Dr Krishan Lal Middha said December 25 was a special day because today was the birth anniversary of two great personalities, former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya. The life of both great men was a source of inspiration for all.

Middha was addressing the district-level Good Governance Day programme at the conference hall of the Mini-Secretariat here as the chief guest. During the event, the live telecast of the state-level programme organised in Gurugram was also shown, in which Chief Minister Nayab Singh gave his message to the people.

“Prime Minister Vajpayee had surprised the world by taking a political and diplomatic decision to conduct nuclear tests in Pokhran (Rajasthan) under the guidance of Missile Man and former President late APJ Abdul Kalam. Today, current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also making the world recognise his political power by taking such strong decisions,” he added.

The Deputy Speaker said the state government had started celebrating December 25 as "Good Governance Day" since 2014 when the BJP came to power.

“At present, the functioning of many departments has become online, due to which people need not make rounds of government offices. The online services are a live example of good governance in the state. Now people are taking advantage of the government schemes through the online system. The state government has truly realised Vajpayee's vision of good governance,” he pointed out.

Middha said the state government had presented the good governance system as an example before the nation by implementing the online transfer policy of employees in big departments.

On the occasion, various officials and employees were awarded with first, second and third prizes for their outstanding work. ADIO Sapna, who implemented the postal management system for sending mail through the online system, got the second prize with a reward of Rs 21,000, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation. Similarly, data entry operator Divyang Ladi Ram was given the third prize, in which he was awarded Rs 11,000, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
