Haryana govt to link land, tax data with family ID via AI

The state government has drawn up plans to roll out Phase-II of the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme with the aim of linking multiple digital records to Family IDs through Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to officials, land ownership records and data from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), including details of income tax returns, bank accounts, tax deducted at source (TDS), and other financial transactions, will be integrated into the existing Family ID database. .

“Family ID is mandatory for citizens to access government schemes. At present, each Family ID is linked only to Aadhaar and a single bank account in the case of beneficiaries. In Phase-II, the scope will widen to include a broader set of documents. The process of linking land records is already underway,” an official associated with the PPP scheme revealed.

The official further explained that linking the CBDT database will allow authorities to access information about all bank accounts associated with a Family ID. Similarly, ITRs will offer deeper insight into an individual’s or family’s financial status, ensuring that government assistance reaches only those who genuinely need it, he added.

Confirming the development, Satish Khola, State Coordinator of the PPP Programme, told “The Tribune” that the plan had already been reviewed at the highest level. At present, more than 76 lakh Family IDs have been issued across the state, out of which, over 40 lakh are classified under the BPL category, he added.

“Integrating land records and CBDT data with Family IDs represents a major step towards enhancing transparency and efficiency in welfare delivery. Hitherto, income and eligibility have been ascertained through income certificates, Aadhaar, and limited supporting documents. Yet, vast pools of digital records already exist within government departments. Phase-II will employ AI-driven systems to integrate these datasets for more accurate and comprehensive assessments,” Khola said.

He maintained that the state government remains committed to ensuring that all welfare benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries. “Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is personally monitoring the progress of the PPP programme to ensure its effective implementation,” he emphasised.
