The main objective is to commercialise two bajra hybrids (HHB 299 & HB 311) of the HAU. In the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof KP Singh, HRM Director Dr MS Siddhpuria and Y Ramesh from the seed company signed the MoU. The VC said the university was constantly working on developing high-yielding and good varieties for farmers. The company has been given a non-exclusive licence for four years for production and marketing of the bajra hybrids. These varieties are biofortified with high iron (around 30-40 per cent) and zinc and are resistant to downy mildew disease. The company will pay the university Rs4 lakh.
‘Institutions must promote research’
Faridabad: Prof KK Aggarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA), has asked engineering institutions to promote multi-disciplinary research and develop their curriculum in line with modern technological advancements. He was addressing a prize distribution function at the valedictory session of 8th International Symposium on Fusion of Science and Technology (ISFT-2020) organised by JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. The session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar. Prof Aggarwal said major responsibility of engineering institutions was not to make engineers but to enable engineers solve problems with the help of technology. He said lot of mathematics was involved in engineering products and even Google had hired many employees with PhD in mathematics. The VC urged researchers and technocrats to face technological challenges with multi-disciplinary approach and come up with innovative and out-of-box solutions to address problems and achieve sustainable development goals.
MDU releases university calendar
Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand Unviersity Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh released the calendar of the university for 2020, along with Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja. They extended New Year greetings to all stakeholders of the university. The VC expressed his commitment to working steadfastly for rapid development and growth of the university in 2020.
KU’s 32nd convocation on Jan 22
Kurukshetra: The 32nd convocation of Kurukshetra University will be held on January 22 in the auditorium hall of the university. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will deliver the convocation address. Vice Chancellor Dr Kailash Chandra Sharma said Birla would be the chief guest, while the programme would be chaired by Haryana Governor and university Chancellor Satyadev Narayan Arya. The VC said degrees would be distributed to 2,384 students who had passed the examination in 2018-19. He told all officials to finalise preparations for the grand convocation function. Information for all students to attend the convocation ceremony has been uploaded on the university website and students can apply online for the function. Students will be able to register by January 18.
KU releases UG-level exam datesheet
Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Dr Kailash Chandra Sharma released the datesheet for under-graduation-level examinations on university website www.kuk.ac.in. These exams will be conducted in April/May 2020. Dr Hukam Singh, controller of examinations, said the datesheet of even semester examinations starting on April 20 is in accordance with the academic schedule of the university and these examinations of each semester would be completed in 28 days. He said all principals of affiliated colleges had been informed about the datesheet and there would be ample time for more than 2 lakh students to prepare for the exams.
