Haryana Health and Civil Aviation Minister Dr Kamal Gupta laid the foundation stone of a street food hub in Hisar today. The food hub has an area of about 4,000 sq yards earmarked in Hisar town.
The minister also flagged off the cattle-catcher machine, electric sky lifting machine and tree-trimming machine which will be utilised by the Municipal Corporation for related works here.
Gupta while addressing residents near Madhuban Park after laying the foundation stone of the street food hub said the food hub would be built for street vendors where food, drinks, fruits and vegetables would be made available. He said the hub would have sheds to protect the vendors from sun and rain and interlocking blocks would be laid on the floor. “All necessary basic facilities will be provided to the street vendors as well as the people visiting the spot. Electricity and water facilities will be provided to the street vendors. There will be adequate space for seating for those visiting the food hub,” he said, adding that it will have a toilet facility as well.
The minister said the food hub would be connected to the parking of the Sector 14 Commercial area, which would make it easy for the shoppers to park their vehicles. He said the vendors and those preparing food here would have to follow the standards of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and wear gloves and caps. The oil and spices used in the food would also be according to the standards of the FSSAI. It would cost approximately Rs one crore to complete the project he said.
The minister said the Municipal Corporation of Hisar was also making efforts to beautify the town.
While flagging off the cattle-catcher machine, electric sky lifting machine and tree-trimming machine, Gupta said the electric sky lifting machine costing Rs 22.60 lakh would speed up the work of repairing streetlights and raising and lowering electricity wires. The tree-trimming machine procured at a cost of Rs 33.60 lakh, named ‘Shaktimaan’ and two water smog machines purchased at a cost of Rs 93 lakh were also flagged off by the minister.
