Hisar: Awareness drive at vet varsity
Hisar: An awareness programme about the ill-effects of alcohol was organised at the auditorium of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) in Hisar on Saturday. The event was organised by the Haryana Technical Association and the Voice Society Delhi. President of Haryana Technical Association Hitesh Hindustani informed students about the social impacts of alcohol consumption. He said in Haryana, the excise department collected approximately Rs 6,042 crore in revenue during 2018-19, which increased by 33 per cent (to Rs 7,933 crore rupees) in 2021-22, showing the growing consumption of alcohol. He urged the young students to abstain not only from alcohol but from all kinds of drugs, emphasising it was possible only through strong determination.
Cops take Exam at tech varsity
Hisar: Haryana Police organised the online B-1 examination for Hisar range police officials at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology. A total of 527 police personnel from all six districts of Hisar range were eligible for the examination, out of which 523 took part in the test. During the examination, ADGP Dr M Ravi Kiran visited the centre to ensure a fair and transparent conduct. Candidates who pass the exam would have to undergo physical and parade tests. After being selected, they will be sent to police training colleges for a four/six month course, where they will be taught ethical values, discipline and the nuances of research.
Dialogue series at Sirsa college
Sirsa: As part of the ongoing student dialogue series at JCD Memorial College, Ajay Lakhera, an alumnus from the Physics Department and a scientific assistant at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), was invited to share his insights with students. Lakhera, who completed his MSc in Physics at the college, spoke in detail about career opportunities, challenges, and how his education laid a strong foundation for his future. During the session, Lakhera addressed various questions from students regarding careers in Physics and opportunities at research institutions such as the BARC. Deputy Director General of JCD Vidyapeeth Jai Prakash praised the department for organising such sessions, emphasising their importance in broadening students’ perspectives and preparing them for professional challenges. He highlighted how alumni could share their experiences to make students aware of potential challenges.
Cadets pay tributes to martyrs
Karnal: The NCC Air Wing cadets of Dyal Singh Public School, Sector-7, Karnal, observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with enthusiasm and patriotism. Under the guidance of ANO Anand Mishra, the cadets participated in three activities. The commemoration began with a tree plantation drive, where cadets planted saplings on the campus. This act symbolised the burgeoning growth and enduring prosperity of our beloved nation. Following this, the cadets engaged in a letter-writing campaign, to convey their deep gratitude to the soldiers stationed at the borders for their selfless service. Cadets and staff members stood united in silent reverence for two minutes, honouring the indomitable soldiers, who sacrificed their lives during Kargil War. Principal Shalini Narang lauded the dedication of the cadets, remarking, “It is indeed appreciable to witness our young students exhibiting such patriotism and reverence for our armed forces. This initiative is instrumental in instilling values of discipline, duty, and civic responsibility among them”.
