Hisar man nabbed for Rs 24 lakh visa fraud

The Sirsa city police on Wednesday arrested a man, allegedly involved in a scam of Rs 24 lakh related to fake visas. The accused, identified as Vipul, hails from Bugana village in Hisar district.

An incident came to light when Manik, a resident of Shahpur Begu village, who runs a visa office in Sirsa, reported to the police that Vipul had visited his office. Vipul claimed that he had personally arranged visas from Delhi and offered to help Manik by securing visas for others as well.

Between July and October 2023, Vipul reportedly took documents and a total of Rs 51 lakh from Manik to arrange visas for five individuals, promising their quick processing. While Vipul initially managed to provide some visas, the applicants discovered at the airport that the visas were fake.

SP Vikrant Bhushan explained that when Manik threatened to file a police complaint, Vipul returned Rs 27 lakh to the former, promising to pay the remaining amount later. However, when Manik demanded the remaining Rs 24 lakh, Vipul said he had no money left with him. On November 26, 2024, a case of fraud was registered. The police have now arrested the accused.
