Hisar MC employees’ union lists demands before Commissioner
The Municipal Corporation Employees’ Union presented 20 demands related to employee welfare to MC Commissioner Neeraj in a meeting yesterday.
The demands include reinstatement of outsourced sanitation workers, who were sacked recently, recruitment of more sweepers, repair of damaged carts, etc.
The union demanded that a proposal should be sent to the government to create 300 new post for sweepers, 20 for sanitation supervisors, 100 for gardeners, 50 each for beldars and sewadars and 30 for drivers in view of increasing population.
Additional Commissioner Shalini Chetal, Joint Commissioner Preetpal Singh, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Hooda and other officials attended the meeting. MC Commissioner Neeraj assured the union representatives that directives have been issued to officers concerned for resolving their demands. He said some demands, which pertained to the Head Office, would be forwarded soon.
Addressing the request of employees for exemptions in community centre for hosting weddings, he said the matter will be considered during the house meeting.
Tenders to be floated
for new carts
Regarding carts for sanitation workers in Wards 1 to 10, the Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) said some carts had been repaired and the rest will be restored shortly. He added that directions have been issued for repair of carts for Wards 11 to 20 and tenders will soon be floated for procuring new ones.
On the issue of Leave Travel Concession (LTC) benefits for permanent and retired employees, the Commissioner stated that approvals had already been granted for 108 employees. Concerning job security under Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam Limited (HKRN), he said employees with over five years of service would soon be regularised. The Commissioner confirmed that promotions of sanitation workers to supervisory roles would be done as per rules.
The union’s key demands included reinstatement of outsourced sanitation workers removed after being put on payroll in 2020, regularisation of payroll and other sanitation workers, allotment of 100 square yard plots to all permanent employees, promotions based on seniority and qualifications and weekly off or compensation for contractual workers working on Saturdays.
