The court of ADJ Sunil Jindal today sentenced a priest to 20 years in jail for raping and abducting a Class XII student.
The court also ordered assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the victim through the District Legal Services Authority. In 2021, her father said in a police complaint that his family had gone to sleep and when he woke up around 4 am, his daughter was not in her room.

The police traced her in Rajasthan, where she revealed that she used to visit the village temple and the priest sexually assaulted her. He abused her several times later, too. On the night of June 10, he lured her and they fled the village. Later, she became pregnant and gave birth to a girl, who was given up for adoption.
