Rohtak, July 13

In a bid to woo the Scheduled Caste (SC) voters ahead of the upcoming elections to the state Assembly, the Haryana BJP leadership has exhorted its workers to pull up their socks and fan out in the state.

The office-bearers of the BJP’s Anusoochit Jaati (SC) Morcha were told to form tolis (small groups) of workers and send them to hold meetings with the SC members at a state executive meeting of the morcha held in Rohtak on Saturday.

As per sources, the ruling party has identified as many as 6,062 SC bastis (localities) across the state and asked the members of its SC Morcha to reach out to every single household in all these localities.

“Voters from the Scheduled Castes voted for the Congress due to its misinformation campaign indicating that the BJP would change the country’s Constitution and end the provision of reservation on coming to power. We will convince and win over the SC voters by telling them about the steps taken by the BJP and Congress governments for them,” maintained BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar.

After the state-level meeting held today, district-level meetings will be held within a week. The district presidents and in-charges of the morcha were asked to cover all 312 mandals in the state and go up to the booth level.

“We were told to convince the SC voters in our areas that the BJP government has worked for their welfare while they faced atrocities during the Congress rule,” said a district president of the BJP’s SC morcha who attended today’s meeting.

Haryana BJP’s organisation secretary Phanindranath Sharma said senior party leaders coming from the Scheduled Castes had been given the responsibility of one or two districts each as the ‘paalak’ of these districts.
