BEGGARS and homeless people can be seen sleeping in the open in the biting cold here. The city lacks night shelters for the homeless. And if someone tries to help them by offering clothes or blankets, they refuse the help. Many of them also consume alcohol at night. Traffic jams routine affair on highway

State highway No. 18 here is witnessing massive increase in traffic volume but it remains in a poor condition due to the apathy of the government. The problem has been compounded by the establishment of Model Industrial Township at Kharkhauda town. The authorities concerned should do the needful and address the concerns of the residents and commuters. —Mahabir Singh, Sonepat

Poor condition of bypass road in Panipat

The poor condition of the bypass road in Sector 25 here has been causing a lot of problems to commuters for a long time. One side of the road was constructed by the authorities nearly three years ago. The other lane has not been constructed so far, leading to massive traffic jams as commuters must use the only lane available. The authorities should take immediate action and provide relief to the residents. —Jugwinder, panipat
