As soon as the news of Sonepat wrestler Nisha Dahiya’s death hit social media, there was confusion regarding the identity of the deceased.

Wrestler Nisha, who won a bronze medal at the U-23 World Championships in Belgrade on November 5, was flooded with frantic calls.

The wrestler, who hails from Idana village in Panipat and trains at Satyawaan akhada in Rohtak, cleared the air about her well-being in a video posted on the SAI Twitter handle.

At present, Nisha is in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, for senior nationals. The 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medallist, Sakshi Malik, too cleared the confusion about the identity of the deceased on her Twitter handle.

Coach Kuldeep Singh said, “Nisha, the U-23 World Championships bronze medallist, is in Gonda for senior nationals. There was some confusion regarding the identity, but it has now been cleared.”
