IGP Satender Kumar Gupta took over charge as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) of Faridabad on Saturday. He succeeds ADGP Saurabh Singh, who got transferred out recently to be posted as the new Chief of the CID Department of the state. Having the shortest stint, Singh joined on November 23 this year.

IPS Gupta had been holding the charge of the CP of Sonepat prior to this posting. He was received by Joint CP Rajesh Duggal at the head office in Sector 21 C here on Saturday. Senior police officials, including DCP (Headquarters) were present on the occasion.

Hailing from Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, he had been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry in 2016 and the Police Medal in 2023. He belongs to the 2004 batch. He has previously served as the SP of Sonepat, Sirsa, Bhiwani, Fatehabad and Hisar, and as the DCP (East), Gurugram. Promoted as the IGP in 2022, he worked as the IG (Karnal Range) and CP, Sonepat.

Talking to officials after taking the charge, Gupta said the top priority should be on controlling all kinds of crime and ensuring the safety of residents, especially women. He said no efforts would be spared to improve the law and order, besides ensuring effective management of the traffic. He called upon officials to ensure strict action against the criminals.
