Rajesh Kumar, District Town Planner, Yamunanagar, said on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, a demolition drive was being carried out in illegal colonies of Yamunanagar.

He said they came to know that an unauthorised colony was being developed at Chhappar Mansoorpur village. He further said a team headed by him was formed to carry out a demolition drive in this illegal colony.

He said the Naib-Tehsildar of Saraswati Nagar was appointed as the duty magistrate to maintain law and order. “During the demolition drive, our team demolished the unpaved roads in the illegal colony, which was being developed on about seven acres,” said DPT Rajesh Kumar. He said that notices were issued to the defaulters as per rules under Controlled Area 41 of 1963, but the defaulters did not comply with the departmental orders.

“The landowners and other involved did not obtain necessary permissions before establishing the illegal colony and carrying out construction work on the said land,” said Kumar.
