Drug Control Department officials seized illegal drugs worth Rs2.25 lakh from two men here on Tuesday. The drugs were meant to be supplied locally. A complaint under the NDPS Act was lodged.
Senior Drug Inspector Karan Godara said that on a tip-off, officials intercepted a car in Sector 8 here. On searching, they found drugs which could not be sold openly or without a licence from the department.
Car occupants — later identified as Ajit of Palwal and Dinesh of Hodal — could not produce bills or documents of the drugs, Godara said, adding the drugs had been brought from Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh and were to be supplied to local chemists or sale points.Ajit and Dinesh were handed over to the police, Godara added.
The seizures included 1,440 bottles of Codine syrup, 4,500 Alprazolam tablets, and 200 vials of Kitamine injection.
Kitamine injection requires a licence for sale as it is used as anesthesia during a surgical operation, while Codine syrup cannot be sold without a doctor’s prescription. — TNS
