Illegal mining: 4 heavy vehicles impounded

Fine of ₹17.04 lakh imposed on owners

In a major action against illegal mining, the teams of district administration impounded vehicles, imposing a fine of Rs 17.04 lakh, on their owners.

These vehicles were impounded as their drivers failed to produce any document including e-transit passes related to mining minerals loaded in the said vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said the Haryana Government was taking a number of steps to stop illegal mining, illegal transportation of mining minerals and overloading.

“As per the instructions of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Director-General of Mines and Geology Department, Haryana, KM Pandurang, is monitoring the activities of the Mining Department,” said Gupta.

He said during the checking drive, a total of 2,145 vehicles were checked by the teams of the district administration.

He said 1,442 vehicles were checked by the teams led by the SDM, Chhachhrauli.

He added that during the checking of 269 vehicles by the teams of the Jagadhri SDM, four vehicles were impounded and a fine of Rs 17.04 lakh was imposed. He said 281 vehicles were checked by the teams of the Radaur SDM and 153 vehicles were checked by the teams of the Vyaspur SDM.

“The checking is being done day and night by all SDMs, Police Department and Mining Department officials of the district,” said Gupta.
