Illegal mining: 8 vehicles seized in Yamunanagar district

Local administration teams seized eight vehicles in the district last night and challaned the owners of 56 vehicles for their alleged involvement in illegal mining, transportation of mining mineral, and overloading.

The teams also imposed a fine of Rs 34,51,600 on the owners of the vehicles.

According to information, a team led by Jagadhri SDM Sonu Ram seized a vehicle and issued challans to 13 vehicles, imposing a fine of Rs 5.6 lakh on the owners.

Similarly, one vehicle was seized by a team led by Vyaspur SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, who challaned 13 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 3,28,100.

Four vehicles were seized by a team led by the Chhachhrauli SDM for the illegal transportation of mineral.

The Regional Transport Authority also challaned 13 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 17.80 lakh. According to information, two vehicles were seized by the teams of Radaur SDM Narender Kumar, who also challaned seven vehicles and imposed Rs 8,55,500 fine.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said the government was determined to stop illegal mining in the state.

He said e-transit passes were also being checked of vehicles passing through Yamunanagar.
