Impounded vehicles gutted in fire near Mini-Secretariat
About 15 old vehicles, impounded by the RTO, were gutted after a fire broke out at a parking lot near the Mini-Secretariat on Saturday afternoon.
A fire brigade team reached the spot and controlled the fire in about 30 minutes.
The fire team managed to save 10 vehicles.
According to Fire Officer Ajmer Rathi, the destroyed vehicles were parked at a parking lot near the Mini-Secretariat, and had been impounded by the RTA after the expiry of their time limits.
At around 3 pm on Saturday, smoke was spotted billowing out of the parking lot.
After getting information, one fire engine from Bhim Nagar and two fire engines from the Sector 29 fire station were dispatched to the spot.
“It took about half an hour to control the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” Rathi said.
