The two-day training programme on women empowerment in agriculture under the Indo-Israel initiative, organised by the Horticulture Department Haryana concluded on Tuesday at Horticulture Training Institute, Uchani.

On the second and final day, a series of technical sessions were held on themes related to women’s role in agricultural empowerment. Subject expert Dr Shivani gave a detailed presentation on nursery management in orchards, while experts from Israel highlighted the importance of wastewater treatment and its reuse in farming. He emphasised the urgent need for farmers to adopt water-efficient crops to tackle the looming challenge of groundwater depletion.

Laboratory expert Dr Neha Chaudhary guided participants on honey quality assessment, identification of pure honey, its composition and honey-based products such as biscuits, toffees, chocolates, cakes and beverages. Participants also visited the Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Limited (DRIISHYA), Karnal. A live demonstration was given by Nisha Solanki, who showcased the benefits of drones in agriculture, particularly in saving time and resources during crop spraying.

Feedback and suggestions were collected from participants at the end of the technical sessions. More than 70 women officers from various states of the country took part in the training camp. Certificates were distributed to all participants.
