A Kaithal-based IPS officer of the 1990 batch, YB Khurania, has been appointed the 38th Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha. He has received many commendations and rewards, including the Governor’s Medal and President’s Police Medal for meritorious service.

After his appointment, residents of the district expressed their pleasure and happiness. The residents hoped that DGP Khurania will serve Odisha with the same spirit that he has showcased in the past.

The appointment came a few days after the Centre approved the premature repatriation of Khurania, serving as the Special Director General of the Border Security Force to his parent cadre Odisha, with immediate effect.

Khurania, who hails from Kaithal city, passed the Haryana Civil Services (Judicial) examination in 1989, but after serving as a Judicial Magistrate for seven months, he was selected as an IPS officer in 1990.

We are hopeful, he will serve the state with his utmost dedication and commitment,” said JB Khurania.

Meanwhile, District Bar Association president Baljinder Malik, former president DBA Ranvir Parashar and others expressed their happiness over the appointment. — TNS
