Chaudhary said the family had demanded that in the FIR registered in connection with Puran Kumar’s suicide, the names of the two main accused should be included in column No. 7 (as accused). In the memorandum submitted to the Chandigarh Administrator, the MP also demanded that a judicial inquiry be conducted for a fair investigation under the chairmanship of a high court judge. He further requested that the bereaved family be provided security under the Chandigarh Administration’s jurisdiction.

He said there were flaws in the FIR filed by the Chandigarh Police and demanded that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, Section 3(2) (5) be added to the case. The MP said the wife of the late officer had sought official copies of documents seized by the Chandigarh Police during the investigation.
