Rohtak, January 19
The Israeli authorities have taken a strong exception to the move of stopping candidates from states other than Haryana to sit for the ongoing recruitment drive for skilled workers at Rohtak.
Highly placed sources told The Tribune that the State of Israel, through the Population, Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA), had termed the move “unfortunate” and asked for the intervention of the Union Government.
“I am sorry to hear about the problems we are facing with recruitment in Haryana. It seems that there is an issue with the local government’s decision to call off the professional tests and restrict candidates from other states. My team at the exam site says 1,000 workers had been sent home, which is very unfortunate,” reads the communique.
The Israeli authorities have sought the Union Government’s immediate assistance and intervention in contacting the appropriate authorities such as the local government officers or relevant departments to dissuade them from their decision.
“The tests are supposed to be open for candidates from all states, but the Haryana Government is adamant on allowing only the candidates from their state to take the tests,” said an official of the National Skill Development Corporation.
