In a big jolt to the Congress, a senior party leader from Hisar, Ram Niwas Rada, has switched over to the BJP.

Rada, along with some other Congress leaders from Hisar, joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh.

Rada was the Congress candidate for the Hisar Vidhan Sabha seat in the recent Assembly elections, but lost. He had sought the Congress ticket for the post of Hisar Mayor. On being denied the Congress ticket, he joined the BJP.

Former municipal chairman Bihari Lal Rada, Youth Congress district president Rohit and several other Congress leaders from Hisar also joined the BJP along with Rada.

They were inducted into the party by the Chief Minister.
