Nuh: Judge’s gunman dies as pistol goes off

A constable posted as a gunman of a judge in Nuh district, died in mysterious circumstances late Wednesday night after a bullet from his service pistol hit his head. His cousin, who had complained of chest pain moments earlier, also died en route to hospital.

The constable has been identified as Shakti Singh (30), a resident of Langda village in Bilaspur area. He was reportedly cleaning his official pistol at home when the incident occurred around midnight.

His cousin, Naveen (27), who was also present in the house at the time, suddenly experienced chest pain. As Singh rushed to check in on him, he is believed to have slipped near the door, making the pistol go off.

Family members rushed both of them to different hospitals. Naveen was taken to Tauru and Singh to Gurugram. Both were declared dead on arrival.

“My son was cleaning his pistol when Naveen complained of chest pain,” said Krishan Kumar, Singh’s father. “He ran to help, but slipped at the door and the weapon went off. I took Naveen to a hospital at Tauru while my brother Rampal took Shakti to Gurugram. Sadly, neither survived.”

Inspector Dilbagh Singh, SHO of Bilaspur police station, said the bodies had been sent for a post-mortem examination. “The family is being questioned and the exact cause of the incident will be established through forensic and medical reports,” he said.

According to the police, the constable was married and is survived by his wife and a one and a half years old child. His wife is said to be pregnant. Naveen was married but had no children.

The SHO said the family had not filed any complaint, nor did they suspect foul play.
