Located along the Kaithal-Karnal Road on 20-acres of gram panchayat land at the village, the construction work of the project began in September 2023 at an estimated cost of Rs 935 crore, said an official.

The college will house state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a 530-bed hospital building with a basement, ground floor, and seven upper floors, a dedicated medical college block with examination halls and academic facilities, separate hostels for boys (350 capacity) and girls (250 capacity), equipped with modern dining and kitchen amenities, residential blocks for junior and senior residents, and Class I and II officers. Besides, provisions for medical equipment, general furniture, and site development, including external services will also be included. All statutory approvals –including building plan sanction, environmental clearance, CLU and pre-fire NOC have been obtained.

The authorities claimed that the medical college will be significantly beneficial for the residents of Kaithal and nearby districts, which at present rely on referrals to the PGIMER-Chandigarh, PGIMS-Rohtak, or Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, for advanced treatment. This medical college promises to ease this burden by providing high-quality healthcare facilities within the district itself, an official claimed.

This medical college will offer 100 MBBS seats, a major step forward for aspiring medical students in the region. “Multi-storeyed buildings have already been completed on the campus,” an official said.
