Teams comprising local police, narcotics units, commandos and sniper dogs carried out coordinated raids across multiple areas under various police stations, including Cheeka, Guhla, Siwan, City, Sadar, Pundri and Dhand.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Astha Modi said, “The police are fully committed to make000 Kaithal a drug-free district. This crackdown is part of a continuous effort to eliminate the drug menace from society. No drug peddler will be spared. Such persons deserve to be behind bars.”
The operation aimed not only to apprehend drug traffickers and habitual criminals, but also target those living illegally and engaging in narcotic activities, the SP said. During raids, police personnel also interacted with local residents, urging them to report any drug-related activities, she said. The identity of people sharing information would be kept confidential, the SP maintained.
She said awareness efforts were part of this campaign, as the police sensitised the public about ill-effects of drug abuse and encouraged youth to stay away from narcotics.
The SP said such search operations would continue in the future.
