Kaithal is gearing up to provide International Math Olympiad coaching at six government schools free of cost.
An orientation programme was organised on Tuesday to mark the beginning of the initiative, where Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Deepak Babulal Karwa was the chief guest. A total of 2,048 government school students of the district had appeared for the selection exam of the free coaching initiative, out of which 266 students qualified.

These selected students will now receive special coaching at block-level schools from September 1.
Addressing the students, Karwa said: “You are the special children of the district, who have received the opportunity to prepare for the International Math Olympiad free of cost. With the support of your parents and the guidance of your teachers, you can achieve new heights. This initiative will give Kaithal’s students a golden chance to prove their talent at the national and international level.”
He encouraged students to value time, work hard with a positive mindset, and contribute to society and the nation.

District Education Officer Vijay Laxmi said students sharp in mathematics could excel in exams such as Buniyaad and Super-100.
“The opportunity will not only help in competitive exams, but also pave the way for affordable higher education in universities across India, and abroad,” she added.
District Science Expert Chatrapal said 54 mathematics teachers would train the students.
Classes will be held every Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 2.30 pm. Students will be trained for both the Haryana Math Olympiad and the International Math Olympiad.
Chatrapal said the top-100 students at the state-level olympiad would receive attractive awards.
The first prize winner will get Rs 1 lakh, the second Rs 51,000, and the third Rs 21,000. The next 97 rank-holders will each receive Rs 10,000 each.
Students qualifying at the international level will get the opportunity to secure admission in reputed universities abroad without entrance tests under a special quota.
Coaching is set to be conducted in six designated government senior secondary schools (Pundri, Jakhouli, Kalayat, Rajound, Siwan and Guhla).
