Karna stadium construction work inconveniences residents

The residents of Nyaypuri Colony in the city are facing a lot of inconvenience due to ongoing construction work in Karna Stadium. They urged the authorities of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) to prioritise cleanliness and hygiene, particularly on the road adjacent to the stadium.

The locals have requested the KMC to utilise sweeping machines to clean the roads at least thrice a week to tackle the issue till the construction is underway.

Former president of the Nyaypuri Resident Welfare Association (RWA) Jaswant Redhu highlighted the challenges faced by them due to the ongoing large-scale construction work at the stadium.

“Heavy vehicles transporting construction materials often have mud stuck in tyres, thereby posing hazards to the residents,” Redhu added.

“We are not against the development, but cleanliness should be maintained at all costs,” he stated.

He further expressed concerns over the continuous pollution caused by the sand and debris that falls off the vehicles, impacting the health and well-being of the residents.

Anuj Singhal, a resident, raised the issue of the increasing burden on the residents who are forced to clean their homes multiple times a day due to the deteriorating cleanliness standards.

The residents also blamed heavy vehicles carrying construction material damaging the roads. “The frequent plying of vehicles deteriorated the condition of the main road leading to the stadium. We request the authorities concerned to take immediate action and repair the road,” said Dinesh Kumar.

KMC chief sanitary inspector Surinder Chopra assured everyone that proper measures would be taken to address the matter. “We have already sent sweeping machine twice to clean the roads. We will send it again to maintain the same in the colony,” said Chopra.
